The techie heads here at DoneDeal have been working very hard lately on developing a new Advanced Search for you DoneDealers.  The first stage of this has now been launched on our site thanks to Declan and Chris!  You can now search all our sections by Price-Range, very useful for the bargain hunter!

This is only the starting point for the advanced search feature and you will see new sections to this feature come on-line very quickly as we work the boys to the bone!

The 10 photos are all included in the standard €3 fee, there is no extra cost.

Photos make it much easier to buy and sell things, we strongly recommend that you upload as many photos as possible in your ad.

If you already have an ad on DoneDeal, go to the ad and click on the link “Edit Ad”. There you can quickly add more photos to your ad, for free.

New sections

Declan was up bright and early at 6:30am today to upgrade the DoneDeal web site.

He launched a whole range of new sections, there are now 119 sections on DoneDeal, up from 31 yesterday. It should make it quicker and easier to buy and sell stuff.

Find the page

We added a new feature on DoneDeal today. Go to any search page, at the bottom you see a bunch of links to result pages, so you can go through the search results quicker.

We now have over 27,000 items for sale on DoneDeal, so anything that helps find things faster is helpful.

DoneDeal Mobile

Great news! We just launched the all new m.donedeal.ie, the DoneDeal web site for mobile phones.

The m.donedeal.ie site is designed for small screens. It does not have all the bells & whistles of the normal web site, but it is much faster and easier to use on a phone.

So next time you are sitting on the train, at the bus stop, or waiting for your friends to get to the pub: entertain yourself with all the great ads on m.donedeal.ie.

We have tested the new site with all the mobiles in the office. But there are a squillion different phones out there, and they all work differently on the Internet. If you have any problems or comments on the new site, please add a comment below and include the name & model of your phone, and we will sort it out as soon as we can.

Scammers be Gone!

Over the last weeks we have seen a few scams on DoneDeal. Mostly cars advertised for a fraction of the normal price, but also some motorbikes, and a horse.

Before you get worried, please be assured that most ads on DoneDeal have always been genuine, thanks to our clever Scam Filter. It stops most scams before they even get on to DoneDeal.

For example, over the last month there was 24 scam ads, out of over 10,000 genuine ads. That is a mere 0.2%!

The scam ads were removed within days, or even within hours, and every person who contacted the scammer received an email from us warning them about the scam. Also, it is easy to protect yourself from scams by following the advice in our Security Centre.

Anyway, personally I hate scammers, and even 0.2% is too much for our high standards. These eeeediots try to steal hard earned money from nice people, and we have no time for these scum bags.

Therefore I have updated the DoneDeal Scam Filter over the weekend. It is now even cleverer. In fact, I dare say it is by far the cleverest filter in Ireland.  For security reasons I cannot tell you exactly how it works, but it is good stuff!

The new Scam Filter means our system automatically removes scam ads, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. It never sleeps!

The new Scam Filter goes live on DoneDeal tomorrow (Monday). So next week the scammers better get themselves a decent job, or at least go hassle some other web site instead.

It just got easier to find what you are looking for on DoneDeal. We now show a photo for each ad that has photos.

This saves you clicking in to each ad just to find out what colour the car/sofa/boat is.

This is something that a lot of our users have asked for, we are very grateful for all the feedback that helps us improve the site.
