Helping Sick Children in June!
Thursday, May 31st, 2012This month on DoneDeal, we are all about Children’s charities!
We’re delighted that our charity month keeps growing and growing every month.
So for June’s Charity month, we’ve decided to share the proceeds between 3 different children’s charities so that we can help EVEN MORE kids in Ireland!
Barretstown
When I was young all I wanted to do was play with my friends. I was lucky, all I suffered from was a week of Chickenpox and a few grazed knees.
For children that are suffering long term illnesses they can be robbed of what kids are supposed to do, play and have fun with their friends. This is where Barretstown come in.
Barretstown helps to rebuild the lives of children affected by serious illness through Therapeutic Recreation, or what they call ”serious fun”. The organisation provides Spring and Summer camps where sick children can improve their self esteem by taking part in lots of activities from Creative writing to Photography to Fishing.
This helps to heal the emotional scars suffered after an illness. Please head over to the Barretstown website to learn lots more about the great work they do.
The Aoife and Aine Memorial Fund
I spoke to a fantastic woman that lives here in Wexford. Her name is Caroline Kennedy. Carolines life was turned upside down when her daughter Aoife died in a tragic road accident.
And then tragedy struck again when her second daughter, Aine, died of a multi organ failure. This double tragedy inspired Caroline to set up The Aoife and Aine Memorial Fund in memory of her two beautiful daughters.
Her aim was to raise much needed funds for essential medical services here in Wexford, services which might have helped Aoife and Aine. To date, they have raised funds for a special Occupational Therapy Unit in St. Senans Primary school in Enniscorthy and a Transport Ventilator to name but a few. Now Caroline wants to help fund a special Childrens A&E room in Wexford General Hospital. And we here in DoneDeal want to help.
Temple Street Childrens Hospital
And last but by no means least, the Temple Street Childrens Hospital in Dublin has an A&E department that caters for over 50,000 children each year that arrive with all sorts of illnesses and injuries.
And while providing them with the best medical care, they try to make their stay as distress – free as possible. The service must be funded so this care can continue. Again we want you DoneDealers to help.
So here is 3 really worthy charities that can help sick children have a better life. As always, 10% of each ad you place on DoneDeal will go to supporting these charities. So get your ads up now!
