Advanced Search!

by Donna in category New Features

screen shot of search

The techie heads here at DoneDeal have been working very hard lately on developing a new Advanced Search for you DoneDealers.  The first stage of this has now been launched on our site thanks to Declan and Chris!  You can now search all our sections by Price-Range, very useful for the bargain hunter!

This is only the starting point for the advanced search feature and you will see new sections to this feature come on-line very quickly as we work the boys to the bone!

The search filter for price works a treat, I use the site all the time and have had no complaints with the feature.
    – great site.

Although one little niggle with the site (not with the new feature),
When looking at pictures on an ad, – sometimes I want (or need) to see the photo in higher resolution, – so I click on the image, but alas, the new page I am brought to only shows an image of the same resolution. (It’s a bit annoying when I try and read a numberplate or look for scratches on a car.)

Hi Diarmaid, thanks for the feedback! I’ll pass this one to Declan to see if he can do anything to improve this!

    Dear Donedeal team,

Could you please use on your website another category for products ?
Can you make “Non-vehicles” or “Non-Cars” at your website ?

There is probably 95% of products cars and I’m not looking for them but for anything else. I cant find option for this kind of sorting.

    Regards,

Hi Lucas, thanks for contacting us. You can select different categories to search in the “All Sections” drop down list at the top of the search page.

Hi – it would be nice to have a feature that allows us DoneDealers to watch items that we are interested in or that we are selling. This would stop having to troll through pages of other ad’s when we want to find our particular ‘interested ad’.
I know that we could put the advert heading in but when there are so many ad’s of a similar nature it throws up all those ad’s as well. Trust you will see where I am coming from !
Great site we have sold many items through Done Deal much better than Buy and Sell or Ad Mag.
    Regards to All,
    Billy, Banagher.

    Hi,
I love the site and use it all the time – because it works so well.

But. – I don’t like a change that was made of late.
    - When I am in a section and go to enter something into the search bar the search tabs open up (county and sections, due to the mouse passing by them) therefore blocking my view of the search bar – this is really annoying.
Can you please put the search bar back to the way it was with the search tabs off to the right of it.

Also the new advanced search feature – “private or trade” seems a bit useless to me, – it would make more sense to have a watermark at the bottom of the ad itself simply stating “Private” or “Trade”. You do not want to fall into the pit-traps that your rival websites (carzone, carsireland, buy and sell, etc) did. -(too many unnecessary, and arkward to use, search filters).

The only search filter that might be of any use would be a simple diesel or petrol search filter for the car section.

    Thank you,
    Diarmaid. (donedeal veteran)
