by Donna in category News & Awards

Every year at Christmas time your loved ones sit down and ponder about the gifts they should buy. They may be practical, frivolous, or just good fun.emer-henry resize blog

This year we challenge you to beat the most unusual Christmas pressie that was received in our office. Emer got a mini “Henry the Hoover” in our Kris Kindle. Is someone trying to tell you something about your desk there Emer?!

Do you think you can beat that?  We have a €50 One-for-All voucher for the most unusual entry and 5 runner up gifts aswell.  Leave a comment below to tell us the strangest gift you received this Christmas.

I got a USB Mouse on an exercise bike. When you plug it into your PC he starts to cycle & the faster you type the faster he cycles. He wears cute white shorts & a blue vest.

If that wasn’t weird enough I got this little keyring thing that has nine buttons on it & it’s supposed to mimic the sound of those protective bags with the little air bubbles in them that everyone loves popping but on every 100th press of a button it makes a different sound, like a dog barking or a horn beeping. Very WEIRD!!

My husbands friend gave me 50kg of rooster potatoes for Christmas, because if he drops in when passing I always feed him.
With a family of 5 adults and one child, plus an extra week at home due to snow, I am using the last of them today, and I am very grateful

A week before Christmas, my mother-in-law turned up with a beautifully-wrapped box for me. She was all delighted with herself, and almost demanded I open it in front of her. I opened the box eagerly, and found a very large stainless steel saucepan, with a small infant of prague stuffed into it. Mind you, it shouldn’t have surprised me, seeing as the last time she went on her travels, she presented everyone with duty-free goodies, and duly handed me a single BAR of dove soap.
A small stone man shoved in a burner…beat that!!!!!!!!

My best friend gave me this lovely cast iron horse figure. The thing is it has a big long handle comiing out of the top of the horses back….. We thought it was something to help take off your ridding boots but on testing it that was a big NO. There were various ideas from friends such as something to ite your real horse to, a poker holder, a regular orniment but it wouldn’t fit on any shelf, a potatoe masher….. We now use it as a door stop. I haven’t the heart to ask her what it really is.
